INDIANAPOLIS – The National Panhellenic Conference (NPC), the umbrella group for 26 inter/national sororities and one of the largest organizations advocating for women, today announced the women who will serve on the 2021-23 NPC Board of Directors.

The 2021-23 directors are:

  • Patty Purish O’Neill, Alpha Delta Pi (appointed in rotation)
  • Leslie Williams, Delta Zeta (appointed in rotation)
  • Jennifer Daurora, Alpha Chi Omega
  • Cheri De Jong, Sigma Kappa
  • Laura Doerre, Kappa Alpha Theta
  • Helen Lahrman, Pi Beta Phi
  • Laura Sweet, Sigma Sigma Sigma

Cheri De Jong was elected to serve as chairman of the board.

Dani Weatherford, via her role as NPC chief executive officer (CEO), continues to serve as corporate secretary.

“Three years ago, NPC adopted a new organizational structure and governance model to help the Conference be more effective and nimble in achieving its goals,” said Dani Weatherford, J.D., NPC CEO. “This governance model also allows us to recruit potential directors more broadly from across the Conference and more fully harness the talent in our member organizations – something our Nominating Committee put much thought and effort into for this election.

“We are pleased to announce Cheri De Jong as the new NPC chairman, as well as to welcome all of the 2021-23 board members, the majority of whom are new to NPC board service. Together, they will leverage their unique backgrounds, experiences, perspectives and skill sets to set the strategic direction for the Conference and create a vision for the sorority experience today, tomorrow and well into the future.”

The new board begins its term of service on July 1 with the start of NPC’s new fiscal year. “All of us look forward to working with the new chairman and directors as they begin their roles as stewards for the Conference and champions of how NPC and our member organizations advance the sorority experience together,” Weatherford concluded.

About NPC’s Governance Structure

The NPC structure and governance model includes a seven-member Board of Directors consisting of five members elected to service by the Council of Delegates and two directors appointed by their member organization (on a rotational basis). The NPC chairman is also elected by the Council of Delegates.

The Board of Directors has authority and responsibility for overseeing the affairs of the Conference. They establish corporate policy, set the strategic direction, provide fiduciary oversight and monitor organizational performance.

The Council of Delegates consists of one representative from each of NPC’s 26 member organizations and has primary responsibility for Conference membership, Unanimous Agreements and Panhellenic policies.

The NPC workforce, both staff and volunteers, is led by the CEO and charged with accomplishing the work of the Conference.
