Nearly $12,000 in scholarships awarded to sorority women in an effort to make college more affordable
INDIANAPOLIS – The National Panhellenic Conference Foundation (NPC Foundation) today announced the recipients of NPC Foundation scholarship grants for 2020. The NPC Foundation awarded eight scholarships, totaling $11,700, to sorority women to help offset undergraduate and graduate education costs. The 2020 NPC Foundation scholarship award recipients are:
- Kaitlyn Dykman, Alpha Phi, Northern Arizona University.
- Marina Kirillovich, Delta Gamma, University of Alberta.
- Miranda Martinez, Gamma Phi Beta, University of Arizona and Arizona State University.
- Kate Morales, Delta Gamma, University of North Texas and The Ohio State University.
- Allison Mrasek, Chi Omega, University of Oklahoma and Purdue University.
- Emily Werner, Kappa Delta, Northern Arizona University.
- Suzannah Whitlatch, Chi Omega, Arizona State University.
- Kristen Woodall, Sigma Kappa, University of North Georgia.
“Now more than ever, college affordability is at the forefront of higher education discussions,” said Ann Brookshire, president of the NPC Foundation Board of Trustees. “The Foundation is pleased to be able to financially support these eight dedicated scholars who possess strong leadership skills and have demonstrated a commitment to advancing the sorority experience. On behalf of the Foundation, I wish all of the scholarship recipients well as they continue their studies in the upcoming academic year.”
Brookshire added, “I am also thankful for the 25 sorority alumnae volunteers who reviewed nearly 180 applications. It is a daunting task, especially given the high scholastic achievements of the sorority women who apply. The Foundation is also grateful to the organizations and individuals who continue to help us expand our scholarship awards program in support of the sorority experience and college affordability.”

Alpha Phi/Betty Mullins Jones Scholarship
Kristen Woodall, Sigma Kappa, is the recipient of the Alpha Phi/Betty Mullins Jones Scholarship, which was established by the Alpha Phi Foundation to honor Betty Mullins Jones’ commitment to the National Panhellenic Conference. This scholarship is awarded annually to a collegiate Panhellenic woman who has worked to further her fraternal community’s reputation on her campus and who embodies the values of sisterhood, philanthropy and scholarship. This $1,000 scholarship is awarded to a woman who makes a difference in sorority life by serving on her College Panhellenic.
Woodall is pursuing dual degrees in accounting and psychology at the University of North Georgia.
Carole Jurenko Jones Scholarship
Kate Morales, Delta Gamma, is the recipient of the Carole Jurenko Jones Scholarship, established by Alpha Omicron Pi. This scholarship award honors Carole Jones’ commitment to the National Panhellenic Conference, including serving as NPC chairman. This $1,000 scholarship is awarded annually to a collegiate or alumna member in good standing of a NPC member organization who has served in a chapter or Panhellenic leadership role and who has demonstrated Panhellenic spirit, outstanding service and leadership to her campus or community.
Morales has been accepted into the Master of Business Administration program at The Ohio State University. She received her undergraduate degree from the University of North Texas.
Elizabeth Ahlemeyer Quick/Gamma Phi Beta Scholarship
Marina Kirillovich, Delta Gamma, is the recipient of the Elizabeth Ahlemeyer Quick/Gamma Phi Beta Scholarship that was established to honor Betty Quick’s long and devoted service to both NPC and Gamma Phi Beta. This $2,000 scholarship is awarded annually to a collegiate member in good standing of one of the NPC member organizations. Nomination is required by College Panhellenic and the nominee must have displayed outstanding service to her local College Panhellenic. The collegiate member must have a minimum 3.0 grade point average and plan to enroll as a full-time junior or senior (as defined by the school) for the upcoming academic year.
Kirillovich attends the University of Alberta studying psychology.
Mary Louise Roller Scholarship
Miranda Martinez, Gamma Phi Beta, is the recipient of the Mary Louise Roller Scholarship that was funded by a grant from Alpha Omicron Pi to honor Mrs. Roller’s 33-year tenure on Alpha Omicron Pi’s Panhellenic Delegation. The Mary Louise Roller Scholarship is a $1,000 scholarship and is awarded to an undergraduate woman who plans to attend graduate school the following fall. Each recipient shall have displayed outstanding service to her local College Panhellenic during her undergraduate years.
Martinez is a graduate of the University of Arizona and will further her studies at the Sandra Day O’Connor College of Law at Arizona State University this fall.
Phoenix Panhellenic Association Centennial Scholarship
Funded in honor of the Phoenix Panhellenic Association’s centennial, this scholarship is awarded annually. The scholarship typically is awarded to a collegiate or alumna member in good standing of a Panhellenic organization who lives in or is enrolled in a college or university located in the state of Arizona. For 2020, three scholarships of $1,900 each were awarded as follows:
- Kaitlyn Dykman, Alpha Phi, attends Northern Arizona University.
- Emily Werner, Kappa Delta, attends Northern Arizona University.
- Suzannah Whitlatch, Chi Omega, attends Arizona State University.
Sigma Kappa Courage and Conviction Scholarship
Allison Mrasek, Chi Omega, is the recipient of the Sigma Kappa Courage and Conviction Scholarship, funded by Sigma Kappa in honor of Donna Crain King’s service as 2015-17 NPC chairman. It is a $1,000 scholarship awarded annually. The scholarship is awarded to a collegiate or alumna member in good standing of a Panhellenic organization and who has achieved a minimum 3.0 GPA, displayed significant service or contributions to her chapter, university or community at large, and demonstrated noteworthy “courage and conviction.”
Mrasek is enrolled in the Master of Business Administration program at Purdue University. She received her undergraduate degree from the University of Oklahoma.
