2023 National Panhellenic Conference Announces Inaugural Centennial Scholarship Recipients

INDIANAPOLIS – The National Panhellenic Conference (NPC) today announced the recipients of the  inaugural Centennial Scholarship awards. The NPC Centennial Scholarships are named in honor of  the NPC Foundation’s Centennial Fund, which provides the funding for the new program. The NPC  Foundation’s mission is to support NPC priorities and initiatives to enhance the sorority experience, including scholarship programs like this one. 

“NPC has a long history of advocating to make the cost of a higher education more affordable to more women.” said Dani Weatherford, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of NPC. “These new NPC Centennial  Scholarships are one more step we are taking to improve college affordability.” 

NPC awarded scholarships to ten college-bound women, totaling $20,000 to help offset their undergraduate education costs: 

  • Lucie Bernard, University of California, San Diego. 
  • Ella Chafin, Indiana University – Bloomington. 
  • Emma Coomes, University of Kentucky. 
  • Mahi Gupta, University of Rochester. 
  • Bailey Hudgens, Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University. 
  • Maya Lis, University of California Berkeley. 
  • Eleanor Meges, The University of Chicago. 
  • Nitya Pakala, Cornell University. 
  • Shriya Rudraraju, University of Michigan Ann-Arbor. 
  • Allyson Tam, The University of Texas at Austin.  

Applicants were required to write a short essay describing either their current experience with service  and leadership in a women’s-only or women’s-focused organization (e.g., Girl Scouts, Girls on the  Run, Girls Inc., local organizations for women and girls) or the applicant’s plans to participate in a  women’s-only or women’s-focused organization during college. Scholarship recipients were selected based on academic pursuits, school/extra-curricular involvement, community involvement, letters of recommendation and their short essay.
