INDIANAPOLIS – In communications to College Panhellenic officers and campus-based leadership, National Panhellenic Conference officials have reaffirmed pandemic guidance for upcoming Panhellenic recruitment activities in light of concern over increased spread of COVID-19, including the Delta variant.
NPC official guidance directs all College Panhellenics conducting fall 2021 recruitment activities to plan primarily for virtual recruitment events, only moving to hybrid or in-person recruitment events following consultation with campus officials and in compliance with local public health guidance.
“Our fundamental priority must be on ensuring the safety of Panhellenic members, potential new members and the alumnae volunteers who support recruitment activities,” said Dani Weatherford, CEO of the National Panhellenic Conference. “Though mitigation efforts on some campuses and in some communities may permit College Panhellenics to safely operate in-person recruitment events, the foundation of any recruitment plan this year must be based on clear preparation for virtual recruitment.”
Officials at NPC are also encouraging compliance with the latest and most current recommendations from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention – which includes getting vaccinated, wearing a mask, social distancing, cleaning and disinfecting and taking other everyday health precautions.
“We also know that some of our organizations are re-instituting mask mandates within chapter facilities and we applaud their efforts to prioritize safety,” added Weatherford.
NPC has distributed their guidance to College Panhellenic leadership and campus-based student affairs leaders over the course of the past week and officials will continue to monitor the evolution of the pandemic and communicate any additional recruitment guidance should it be necessary.
This latest guidance from NPC mirrors its guidance from fall 2020 and spring 2021, when NPC also encouraged the prioritization of virtual recruitment efforts.
