INDIANAPOLIS – The National Panhellenic Conference (NPC), the umbrella for 26 inter/national sororities, is honoring the Northern Virginia Alumnae Panhellenic Association with its Harriet Macht Outstanding Alumnae Panhellenic Award. The award, established in 1993 by Delta Phi Epsilon in honor of former NPC Chairman Harriet Macht, recognizes excellence in communication, programming, scholarship and service.
“The Northern Virginia Alumnae Panhellenic Association (NVAPA) continues to set the standard for what it means to embody the Alumnae Panhellenic purpose—demonstrating exceptional strength in communication, innovative programming, scholarship support and impactful philanthropic and community service,” said Amy Suzanne Zimmer, 2023-25 NPC Alumnae Panhellenics Committee chair. “We commend NVAPA and its dedicated members for their passion and commitment to uplifting and fostering thriving sorority communities year after year.”
The NVAPA is comprised of women from 19 of the 26 NPC member organizations and serves Panhellenic alumnae in the greater Washington D.C. and Northern Virginia area. The association provides relevant programming in areas of service, leadership, academics and friendship and continues to educate potential members on the benefits of sorority membership. Notably, the NVAPA awarded a combined $7,500 in collegiate scholarships to local sorority women in 2023 and 2024. The NVAPA also hosts regular fundraisers and goods drives for Toys for Tots, Ellie’s Hats, Annandale Christian Community for Action (AAC), Circle of Sisterhood and Women Giving Back.

NVAPA will be formally honored as the 2023-25 Harriet Macht Outstanding Alumnae Panhellenic Award recipient during the 2025 NPC Annual Conference, October 23-25, in Salt Lake City, Utah. The Harriet Macht Outstanding Alumnae Panhellenic Award is a biennial award sponsored by Delta Phi Epsilon.
