INDIANAPOLIS—Carole Jones, chairman of the National Panhellenic Conference (NPC), today issued the following statement in recognition of International Women’s Day and its 2019 theme #BalanceForBetter:
“The global push for women’s rights and equality means that gender balance is not only better, but expected and essential. Just as sororities were founded to create spaces for women to join together to amplify their voices and pursue their dreams, International Women’s Day provides a platform for the entire world to recommit to the fight for gender equality.
“On behalf of all of the women who are members of an NPC sorority, I’m proud of the work our organizations are doing to empower women worldwide. From fostering confidence and resiliency in women and girls to increasing the number of women in leadership positions to inspiring greater civic engagement in the next generation of young women, our members—along with NPC partners like Vision 2020 and Distinguished Young Women—are pushing us toward a future where #BalanceForBetter is more than an aspiring call to action and instead a hard-won reality.”
