Seven women to receive scholarship awards to defray the cost of their college education
INDIANAPOLIS – The National Panhellenic Conference Foundation (NPC Foundation) today announced the recipients of NPC Foundation scholarship grants for 2022. The NPC Foundation awarded scholarships to seven sorority women, totaling $8,000, to help offset their undergraduate or graduate education costs.
The 2022 NPC Foundation scholarship award recipients are:
- Rachel Lauren Braddock, Delta Zeta , Georgia State University.
- Abigail Nicole Brown, Alpha Omicron Pi, Northern Arizona University.
- Alexis DeVries, Alpha Delta Pi, Arizona State University.
- Madison Glatz, Kappa Alpha Theta, The University of Alabama.
- Galatiani Galena Lopuchovsky, Zeta Tau Alpha, Youngstown State University.
- Samantha McCarthy, Alpha Chi Omega, Trinity College and The University of Chicago.
- Georgia Turpin, Alpha Delta Pi, The George Washington University.
“Today’s college students continue to grapple with many challenges while pursuing a higher education, including college affordability and how to get the most from their college experience,” said Barbie Chadwick, president of the NPC Foundation Board of Trustees. “The NPC Foundation is pleased to be able to annually award scholarships to offset college costs for sorority women. The seven women receiving Foundation scholarship awards this year are dedicated scholars who possess strong leadership skills and have demonstrated their commitment to advancing the sorority experience. On behalf of the Foundation, I wish all of the scholarship recipients well as they continue their studies.”
Chadwick added, “The NPC Foundation Board of Trustees is grateful to the 13 sorority alumnae volunteers who reviewed more than 175 scholarship applications this year. It is no easy task to select the recipients, especially given the high scholastic achievements of the sorority women who apply. I’d also like to express our gratitude to the organizations and individuals who continue to help us expand our scholarship program in support of the sorority experience and college affordability.”

Alpha Phi/Betty Mullins Jones Scholarship
Georgia Turpin, Alpha Delta Pi, is the recipient of the Alpha Phi/Betty Mullins Jones Scholarship established by the Alpha Phi Foundation to honor Betty Mullins Jones’ commitment to the National Panhellenic Conference. This scholarship is awarded annually to a collegiate Panhellenic woman who has worked to further her fraternal community’s reputation on her campus and who embodies the values of sisterhood, philanthropy and scholarship. This $1,000 scholarship is awarded to a woman who makes a difference in sorority life by serving on her College Panhellenic.
Turpin is pursuing a degree in psychological and brain sciences at The George Washington University. She also trains at Howard University’s Air Force Reserve Officer Training Corps (ROTC) program. Following her graduation in May 2023, she will be commissioned as an officer in the United States Air Force.
Carole Jurenko Jones Scholarship
Madison Glatz, Kappa Alpha Theta, is the recipient of the Carole Jurenko Jones Scholarship, established by Alpha Omicron Pi. This $1,000 scholarship honors Carole Jurenko Jones’ commitment to the National Panhellenic Conference, including serving as NPC chairman during the 2017-19 and 2019-21 bienniums. This scholarship is awarded annually to a collegiate member in good standing of an NPC member organization who has served in a chapter or Panhellenic leadership role. It also may be awarded to an alumna in good standing who demonstrates Panhellenic spirit, outstanding service and leadership to her campus or community.
Glatz attends The University of Alabama and is studying psychology and Spanish.
Elizabeth Ahlemeyer Quick/Gamma Phi Beta Scholarship
Galatiani Galena Lopuchovsky, Zeta Tau Alpha, is the recipient of the Elizabeth Ahlemeyer Quick/Gamma Phi Beta Scholarship, which was established to honor Elizabeth “Betty” Quick’s long and devoted service to both NPC and Gamma Phi Beta. This $2,000 scholarship is awarded annually to a collegiate member in good standing of one of the NPC member organizations. Nomination is required by the College Panhellenic and the nominee must display outstanding service to her local College Panhellenic. The collegiate member must have a minimum 3.0 grade point average and plan to enroll as a full-time junior or senior (as defined by the school) for the upcoming academic year.
Lopuchovsky is studying industrial and systems engineering at Youngstown State University.
Mary Louise Roller Scholarship
Rachel Lauren Braddock, Delta Zeta, is the recipient of the Mary Louise Roller Scholarship. This scholarship was funded originally by a grant from Alpha Omicron Pi in honor of Mrs. Roller’s 33-year tenure on Alpha Omicron Pi’s Panhellenic delegation. The Mary Louise Roller Scholarship is a $1,000 scholarship and will be awarded to an undergraduate woman who plans to attend graduate school the following fall. Each recipient shall display outstanding service to her local College Panhellenic during her undergraduate years. Each College Panhellenic may nominate one candidate per year.
Braddock graduated from Georgia State University in 2022 and plans to attend her alma mater in the fall to earn a master’s degree in political science.
Phoenix Panhellenic Association Centennial Scholarship
Funded in honor of the Phoenix Panhellenic Association’s centennial, this scholarship program is awarded annually. The preferred recipient shall be a collegiate or alumna member in good standing of a Panhellenic organization who lives in or is enrolled in a college or university located in the state of Arizona. Or, it may be awarded to a collegiate or alumnae member in good standing regardless of state of residence or enrollment. In 2022, two sorority members will each receive a $1,000 award. The recipients are:
- Abigail Brown, Alpha Omicron Pi, Northern Arizona University. Brown is pursuing a degree in criminal justice.
- Alexis DeVries, Alpha Delta Pi, Arizona State University. DeVries is studying computer information systems and management.
Sigma Kappa Courage and Conviction Scholarship
Samantha McCarthy, Alpha Chi Omega, is the recipient of the Sigma Kappa Courage and Conviction Scholarship. This scholarship award was funded by Sigma Kappa in honor of Donna Crain King’s service as NPC chairman during the 2015-17 biennium. It is a $1,000 scholarship awarded annually. The scholarship is awarded to a collegiate or alumna member in good standing of a Panhellenic organization who has achieved a minimum 3.0 GPA, displayed significant service or contributions to her chapter, university or community at large, and demonstrated noteworthy “courage and conviction.”
McCarthy graduated from Trinity College with a degree in sociology in 2021. She has been accepted into The University of Chicago for graduate school and will pursue a master’s degree in social work, social policy and social administration.
