INDIANAPOLIS — The National Panhellenic Conference Foundation is honoring Dr. Kristin Walker,
Alpha Sigma Tau, with its Women in Higher Education Achievement Award. The award recognizes an
outstanding woman who has made or is making a significant difference in higher education through
her scholarship and leadership.
In her nomination, Jamie Jones Miller, Alpha Sigma Tau and member of the NPC board of directors
said, “One of Kristin’s passion areas is helping fraternity and sorority members understand the skills
they are acquiring as a result of their membership and leadership in their organization.” Her doctoral
dissertation, “How Sorority Members Remember Acquiring the Skills Necessary to Navigate their
Careers: A Narrative Inquiry” allowed her to connect her sorority membership with her academic work
by interviewing alumnae from many different affiliations to identify critical events that shaped their
career development. Dr. Walker currently serves as the associate director of analytics and initiatives for
the Clemson University Center for Career and Professional Development.
In June 2016, Dr. Walker concluded eight years of service on the Alpha Sigma Tau national council and
helped transition the organization from an operational to governance model. “Between her service to
Alpha Sigma Tau and other student affairs organizations, Dr. Walker has traveled to more than 40
institutions across the country,” said Miller. “She takes every opportunity to enhance her learning and
experiences while giving back to the fraternal world and higher education community.”
Dr. Walker holds a bachelor’s degree from Radford University, and a master’s degree in counselor
education and doctoral degree in educational leadership from Clemson University.
